MIRROR ART DESIGN & YKAJE

ART IS A SACRED TRANSITION…

THE PLEASURE OF TAKING ORDINARY MATERIALS AND CREATING OBJECTS OF BEAUTY AND VALUE.

A truly original and creative thinker, Jeanne Chasens Sanders, offers fresh solutions and unique materials to both designers and architects while always striving to meet the ever-changing design needs of today’s consumer. Using glass and mirror as her primary mediums, the artisan’s creativity and imagination provides limitless options to the client with unique and discriminating taste.

Sanders has had a love affair with the reflectivity and translucence of glass since the 1990s. Her bespoke mirror work is entirely hand-finished in exquisite antiqued or contemporary colors and/or highlighted with metallic leaf. Her mirrors hang in some of the finest homes, estates and major hotels across the country.

Sanders continually seeks out challenging projects that further develop her fusion of art and design in unorthodox ways. Her collaborative experience with a wide range of art and design professionals has developed a strong sense of imagination and an innovative spirit.

Always looking to push the boundaries, she has developed a new approach that tackles the inherent possibilities of transparent acrylics. By using proprietary methods, the movement, translucency and light that first drew her to glass are captured. Dubbed “YKAJE” Sanders has refined this material into works of art that emphasize texture, color combinations and a unique style. The focus is on expanding the expectations of art by creating fantasy flowers, sea creatures, ribbons or other fantastic silhouettes suitable for lighting, wall/ceiling/table sculpture, accessories and jewelry

Ideally, site-specific art should fulfill the client’s dream and provide innovative design concepts. With this in mind, Sanders’ projects continue to be the very best form of collaboration – creativity coming together with practicality. The goal is always to please the client with something they can live with and love.

Not restricted by the traditional treatment of materials, glass and mirror are available to be used in a number of ways, including antiquing, reverse painting AND COLOR INFUSION as well as metallic leaf.  Outstanding items such as:

  • TILES
  • Fireplace mantles and surrounds
  • Back splashes
  • Framed mirrors
  • Light fixtures
  • ACCENT WALLS
  • Table inserts
  • Custom furniture

In addition, Sanders incorporates glass elements into her textile painting and uses glass as “Jewelry for the Environment”.
